Professor in UC Davis Health System

A male professor in the UC Davis Health System was investigated for allegations that he had invaded a female co-worker's personal space by resting his stomach against her back and touching her back while speaking with her. According to the Title IX investigation into the allegations, co-workers expressed a range of attitudes toward the professor's interaction, from "awkward to inappropriate." Evidence suggested that the professor was unaware of the effect of his behavior. The investigation concluded that the professor had violated the Faculty Code of Conduct but that nonsexual explanations for the unwanted touching, including the office's small workplace, mitigated the standard needed to warrant disciplinary action. He was subsequently put on notice.
