Several complainants alleged the female respondent had given her co-workers hugs without permission. The respondent would often embrace them from behind, according to a Title IX investigation. When questioned by a Title IX investigator, the respondent referred to herself as a "hugger." She told the investigator that she was being harassed because she was “forced to refuse hugs." Her continued and persistent behavior, even after explicit intervention from an authority figure, was found to violate UC sexual misconduct policy. She was ordered not to engage in future hugging and was recommended to complete sexual harassment training.
